Snorkeling at St. Andrews State Park

Snorkling

Picture yourself walking on a beach where fine, sugar-white sand gives way to the emerald green water of the Gulf of Mexico. Look out and see an aquatic oasis, teeming with marine life and waiting to be explored.

One of the best snorkeling spots in West Florida, the rock jetty at St. Andrews State Park provides an opportunity to explore a Gulf reef.  Originally built to protect a shipping channel, the rock jetty also has become an artificial reef and a welcoming habitat for a vast array of marine life.

Snorkelers can see rays, angelfish, redfish, sheepshead, and octopus, as well as several species of coral, sponges and the other marine life. The waters around the jetty are also frequented by dolphins, giving snorkelers the chance to see them feed in their natural habitat.

St. Andrews State Park is great for both beginning and advanced snorkelers. Bring your own gear or rent gear from the park concession and get ready to explore some of the world’s most beautiful beaches — only in the Real Florida.
