What better way to start off your weekend then by getting your blood flowing and your heart beating in your local state park? Instructor Judy Richards teaches an all levels yoga class at Devils Millhopper from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. the first Saturday of every month. Under the canopy of hardwood trees swaying in the refreshing breeze, you will go through beginner to more advanced stretching and movements, improving your flexibility, blood flow and certainly your state of mind.
Attendees need to bring their own mat, water bottle and towel and meet in the courtyard parking lot. This program runs monthly, so make sure you swing by!
Starting in January and going through May, Devil’s Millhopper will also host Tai Chi every second Saturday of the month. Led by volunteers, participants can expect to be taught basic moves of this no-contact Chinese martial art. Tai Chi has been shown to increase flexibility, improve balance and possibly even lower blood pressure, helping participants to improve their mental and physical well-being through deep-breathing and deliberate motions while remaining low-impact. And as if it couldn’t get more relaxing, you will be doing all of this in the beautiful courtyard of Devil’s Millhopper Geological State Park, surrounded by the wildlife and sounds of Florida. Perhaps some of the park inhabitants will even join in!
So whether you prefer yoga or tai-chi, come get your zen on and get fit in a beautiful setting in this gem of Florida’s state parks!
