Bill Nash, Park Manager
Welcome to Fort Pierce Inlet State Park. This is where the locals go for surfing, fishing, swimming, kayaking and paddleboarding. The jetty along the north side of the inlet is not only great for fishing, but also watching sailboats and fishing boats alike head in and out of the Indian River. The beautiful waters and sandy beaches are great for swimming, sunbathing, and beachcombing activities. When the surf is up, the surfing community from all over gather to catch some of the best waves in Florida. There are many canals, coves and sloughs for kayaking and paddleboarding; and if you don’t have your own you can rent one from our concessionaire or go with them on a guided tour.
You can hardly make it from one end of the park to the other without seeing at least one if not a dozen native Gopher Tortoises that call this park home. On the beach you will find sea turtle nests, resting shorebirds, and beautiful healthy dunes.
During the summer months as well as when surfing conditions are spot on, the park can reach capacity and closes temporarily until enough parking spaces become available to reopen. This is especially the case on weekends and holidays, so please plan accordingly.
Come on out to Fort Pierce Inlet State Park and experience why Florida State Parks are...the Real Florida.
