Manager's Message
Pack your picnic basket and come experience the island. Your adventure begins with a ride on the quiet Hontoon Island all electric river ferry. If you wish, bring your bikes for a pleasant ride or walk along over 5 miles of hard packed dirt roads. After a refreshing excursion on the island stop in and see the wonderfully displayed history of the island in the visitor's center. Snacks, drinks, and souvenirs are available at the Island Store. There are over 20 picnic tables for your use as well as a playground and brand new swings for the children. Rental canoes or kayaks are available. Go for a self-guided tour around the island. Along the way, you will see miles of unspoiled water and little boat traffic. It is truly a ride through "the Real Florida". Remember, the last ferry returns you to the parking lot one hour before sunset. Or you can rent a cabin or tent site and stay the night (space available), enjoy a campfire and the sounds of wildlife on the island.
