Manager's Message

Due to extremely dry conditions no campfires or open other burning will be permitted until further notice. Gas grills may be operated with caution.

This time of year requires extra care and caution when visiting state parks. With the arrival of warm weather and warmer water comes a flurry of wildlife activity. When utilizing our boat ramp, boat basin, and salt marsh we encourage you to use safe boating and fishing practices as manatees and their young will be present from time to time throughout the park’s water system.

May 1st kicks off the sea turtle nesting season. Please use caution when on the beach. Pay close attention when laying your towels or blankets, beach umbrellas, coolers, fishing poles, etc. in the sand. Sea turtle nests are very delicate and should not be disturbed. Also keep an eye out for nesting and resting shore birds when out on the beach. Many threatened or endangered species of bird utilize the beach as nesting grounds. Birds may also be resting in large groups. While many people enjoy the wildlife on the beach, it is a necessity that we give them plenty of space, a wide birth, and the quiet undisturbed respect they deserve.

By all means, come out, enjoy the weather and the environment. We ask you also to observe the state park rules and boundaries by not bringing your pets on our beach. After sunset please refrain from using lights on the beach. Also, keep an eye on the weather. Thunderstorms in Florida can arise very quickly and the lightning can be extremely dangerous. We want all of you to be aware that one should exercise a little more caution now that the warmer months and more beautiful weather have arrived.

Welcome to Gamble Rogers Memorial State Recreation Area at Flagler Beach

Nestled between the Atlantic Ocean and the Intracoastal Waterway, this windswept park is named for Florida folk singer Gamble Rogers and railroad entrepreneur Henry Flagler. The beach is the most popular feature at this park, where visitors enjoy swimming, sunbathing, or beachcombing. The daily low tide is an ideal time to observe shore birds feeding in tidal ponds; summer months bring sea turtles who lay their eggs in the golden-brown sand. On the Intracoastal Waterway side of the park, picnic pavilions provide a shady place to enjoy a meal. A nature trail winds through a shady coastal forest of scrub oaks and saw palmetto. Boaters and canoeists can launch from a boat ramp on the Intracoastal Waterway. The park's full-facility campground overlooks the Atlantic Ocean and is just a short walk along a boardwalk from the beach. Located in Flagler Beach off Highway A1A.
