Fort Clinch State Park Photos

A baby alligator swims with its head lifted above the expanse of tiny green particles of duck weed that coat the surface of the water with yellow blossoms stretching high on hair-like stalks. Whitetail deer with a seven point rack of antlers. The coarse yellow and green grass surrounds him as he turns his head to look. His strong muscular body stands ready to bolt at the thought of danger. Orange, pink and blue swirls of color explode from the sky at sunset. The silhouette of the fort wall slashes straight black lines across the colorful backdrop.

Soldiers fire a cannon from atop the rampart of Fort Clinch. Smoke bellows from the gun barrel as the shot is fired. A close up view of the eyes of an alligator rising above the still water. The speck of bright green duck weed cover its leathery skin. Looking out over the dunes, the long straight fishing pier stretches into the Atantic Ocean.

Whitetail deer with a seven point rack of antlers. He has lifted his head above the pink feathery tops of the muhly grass to face the camera. The strong muscles of his neck are defined against the bright green trees in the background. A pelican nestled on a rock turns his beak behind him and tucks it into his wings. His oily feathers separate from one another and the intricate detail in each is revealed. Sailboat on the calm Amelia River at sunset, sails full of wind with wispy clouds in the sky and rays of sunlight breaking through.

The gray water of the ocean swirls and bubbles as it washes over large, angular rocks of a jetty. Waiting For The Fish - Photo by Ed Jurgensen A flock of shore birds takes flight against an overcast sky. Their wings make small v-shapes in the air.

A ray of sunlight illuminates the shadows and reveals a wooden checkerboard with small round pieces scattered about in play. A tin oil lamp with smooth glass globe sits, unlit, next to the board. The black silhouette of a young boy in the tall coastal grass is bold against the vivid reds, oranges and purples of a sunset. Through the end of the tunnel-like sallyport of Fort Clinch emerges a tall, slender flagpole with the stars and stripes of an American flag perched on top. A two story brick storehouse building stands behind the flagpole.
