Additional Information for Devils Millhopper Geological State Park
Plant Life
Lush ferns, needle palm, orchids, and many other plants are found along the slopes of the sinkhole. Elsewhere, stately live oaks, tall spruce pines, swamp chestnut oaks, and longleaf pines dominate the landscape.
Wildlife
Squirrels, tree frogs, birds, and other small animals can be seen along the slopes of the sinkhole and along the nature trail. Occasionally white tail deer and wild turkey can be spotted.
Resources
Some of the resources found at this significant geological formation are fossil shark teeth, marine shells and fossilized remains of extinct land animals. We ask that you take nothing but photographs with you and leave nothing but footprints behind.
