Welcome to Sebastian Inlet State Park
Please excuse our dust!
Over the next several months there will be a few major work projects occurring at Sebastian Inlet State Park.
On the North side of the park, the old concession stand built in the early 80’s has been removed and will be replaced by a new facility, providing food services as well as beach and gift item sales. It may take about 6 to 8 months for the new project to be completed and ready for your enjoyment. The views from the restaurant and upper dining area should be wonderful!
On the South side of the park, we have a number of work projects going on that will bring some additional activity to the normally serene surroundings. The Sand Trap in the inlet will be dredged and the sand piped out to the beach, where it will be used to re-nourish eroded beaches in the North Indian River County area. Please be mindful of the extra vehicles and equipment that will be active in the area (on the roads and beaches) until possibly early March.
This activity will compounded by another work project to stabilize and restore the west end of Coconut Point. The start date for that project has not been determined yet, but it should not be too far in the future.
All of this work is happening to help make your visit to the Real Florida beaches and especially to Sebastian State Park, more enjoyable in the near future.
The Sebastian Inlet swimming cove has now been reopened. Please be advised that the area nearest the Inlet has been dredged to a depth of approximately 6 feet. There is a plenty of very shallow areas for waders and wildlife with a gradual slope to the new depth. Thank you for your patience as we complete these improvements to the park.
The premier saltwater fishing spot on Florida's east coast, this park is a favorite for anglers nationwide for catching snook, redfish, bluefish, and Spanish mackerel from its jetties. Surfing is also a popular recreation and several major competitions are held here every year. Two museums provide a history of the area. The McLarty Treasure Museum features the history of the 1715 Spanish treasure fleet; the Sebastian Fishing Museum tells the history of the area's fishing industry. Three miles of beautiful beaches provide opportunities for swimming, scuba diving, snorkeling, shelling, and sunbathing. Canoeing and kayaking in the Indian River Lagoon are also favorite pastimes. Visitors can relax with a stroll down the mile-long Hammock Trail. Waterfront pavilions and picnic areas are great for family outings. Full-facility campsites and a boat ramp are available. Located on State Road A1A 15 miles south of Melbourne Beach.
