Here's a note from January's River report: 

Portaging was required in many places from Lower Lake to the Island, located near the first of the houses. There were a couple spots south of Downs’ Dam where we had to portage the canoe due to snags that were blocking the entire river channel.

  • Florida State Parks Pet Policy
  • Pets are permitted in the park, however, they are not permitted in concession areas or cabins. Pets must not be left unattended, taken into restroom facilities or onto playground equipment. Please clean up after your pets. Due to the presence of alligators in all waters of the park, pet owners are urged to use caution. Service animals are welcome in all areas and buildings of the park, as required by law.
