Volunteer Spotlight, Steve and Jeanne Pratt

 Steve and Jeanne Pratt

Alafia River State Park

Hailing from Grant, Florida, Steve and Jeanne have volunteered with various state parks in South Carolina and Florida for over nine years. This dynamic duo had always planned to volunteer as soon as they retired, and that's just what they did. The first park to have the honor of hosting them was Hillsborough River State Park. They have also worked at Colt Creek, Washington Oaks Gardens and Alafia River state parks.

Before retiring, Steve worked in law enforcement and Jeanne worked for the fire department. They enjoy getting to meet people from all over the United States and the rest of the world. When they want to relax, they enjoy campfire cooking and programs.

While at Alafia, Ms. Jeanne has gone out of her way to make sure the butterfly garden is in tiptop shape for both visitors and the very important pollinators it supports.

Their philosophy when it comes to volunteering is to lead by example. Alafia River State Park and all Florida State Parks are lucky to have volunteers such as Jeanne and Steve.
