Beaches at Hugh Taylor Birch

Hugh Taylor Birch State Park is a coastal playground amid urban Fort Lauderdale and the beaches here draws visitors from all over the world. Sunbathe, swim or fish against a backdrop of cerulean water. Beaches, canals and coastal dune lakes are the perfect spot for paddling and enjoying the aquatic ambiance. Boat access is available from the intracoastal waterway as well.

The park is surrounded by water and is home to a variety of unique and valuable coastal ecosystems.

The mangrove forest on the west side of the park is one of the last remaining examples of coastal mangroves in this part of Florida and is very popular with birders and wildlife enthusiasts.

The coastal hammock trail provides hikers with a leisurely stroll through rare and beautiful maritime tropical hardwood hammocks.

Walking through these areas, visitors can experience what Florida’s coasts were like when Hugh Taylor Birch built his homestead here in the early 20th century.
