Volunteer Spotlight, Brent and Sally Burkhalter
Alafia River State Park
Brent and Sally are seasoned campground hosts from Indiana. Even though it is their first year volunteering with Florida State Parks, they have used the invaluable experiences and skills learned from volunteering at Indiana's state parks for more than seven years and in South Dakota for two years.
Before beginning their journey, they had encouragement from friends who told them how great they would be at camp hosting. Brent and Sally take delight in helping new campers do the little things that we can sometimes take for granted.
Since 2000, the Burkhalters have been leaving their mark wherever they go by helping people as needed, being friendly and approachable, and always leading by example.
