Volunteer Spotlight, Ranger Station Team

The Ranger Station Team is the recipient of the 2022 Volunteer Team of Three+ of the Year for Visitor Services. Members are Diana Pierce, Terry Head, Jim and Jane Burnett, Doris Shull and Nikki Reuter.

Six people share duties at the park’s entrance station from May through September. In 2022, they contributed 3,334 hours of volunteer service.

Diana Pierce, Terry Head, Jim and Jane Burnett, Doris Shull and Nikki Reuter work five-hour shifts to greet visitors entering the park. They divide their time between the toll booth and the office, handling campground check-ins, answering phones, creating camping passes, completing day-use tasks, resolving after-hours campground questions, and ensuring wedding guests have accurate directions.

Summer months at Henderson Beach State Park are busy with long lines of vehicles entering the park. The volunteers work tirelessly ensuring guests are greeted warmly while making sure each visitor is informed of water condition/marine life and the rules of the park while getting the visitors in as quickly as possible.

Congratulations to the Ranger Station Team. They serve as positive ambassadors for the park and their efforts are appreciated!
