Welcome to William J. “Billy Joe” Rish Recreation Area. This park is one of the newest additions in the network of Florida state parks.
During your visit to William J. “Billy Joe” Rish Recreation Area, you’ll quickly discover some incredible day-use facilities and experiences, including the amazing beach, the bayside canoe and kayak launch and the activity center.
I am pleased to announce that two family-style cabins are also available for overnight stays. These cabins offer a living room, dining area and full kitchen. The restroom has a zero-entry shower. Two bedrooms provide sleeping accommodations for five people. One bedroom has a queen-sized bed and one bedroom has three twin beds. A futon is available in the living room. The best part? The night sky is terrific, and you’ll enjoy stepping outside to see the stars. These cabins are designated for people with disabilities, their families and their caregivers.
Keep an eye out for wading birds on the bayside of the park. Great blue herons, egrets and a variety of other birds forage for food in the shallow waters of St. Joseph Bay. Look overhead for osprey searching for lunch, soaring brown pelicans and even bald eagles.
