Battle of Olustee Reenactment

reenactors dressed as confederate soldiers stand in a long line firing guns

History comes alive every February at the annual Civil War Reenactment of the Battle of Olustee.

Living history, authentic encampments and reenactors bring Florida history to the forefront during this event at Olustee Battlefield Historic State Park.

The Olustee Battlefield Citizen Support Organization is the primary host of the event, and their website contains detailed information about the schedule and content of the reenactment.

The event is huge in scale, put on every year by park staff, volunteers and hundreds of reenactors. Events vary throughout the weekend - from the live battle reenactment, to memorial services, demonstrations, crafts and arts, concerts, parades and more.

A Battle of Olustee Ball event takes place the night of the reenactment, where participants dance the night away in period dress.

Educational programs and demonstrations designed specifically for school groups are offered on the Friday of the reenactment weekend where kids can see what life was like in 1860s Florida.
